Untitled (2024) is a sculpture composed of metal, glass, and patina, where an oxidized organic structure curves around and penetrates a delicate blown-glass form, creating a suspended tension between opacity and transparency, permanence and fragility. Reminiscent of roots, veins, or coral-like growths, the work evokes processes of transformation and contamination central to Sonia Dias de Souza’s Radical series, in which matter appears simultaneously alive, wounded, and in continuous mutation. The corroded surface suggests the slow action of time and environmental forces over the body of the sculpture, while the fragile glass element functions as both vessel and vulnerable organism. Through this unstable coexistence, the work reflects on interdependence, resilience, and the porous boundaries between the human, the natural, and the artificial, proposing a meditation on survival and adaptation within fragile ecological systems.
