A Flag, usually represents a group, is also the symbol of a certain kind of spirit, idea or faith. As the symbol of different political forces, flags unite the small parts but also cause splits over the whole. The English name of this work is A Clear-cut Flag, whereas the Chinese name “旗帜鲜明” (a clear flag) not only means the colorful and bright appearance of a flag, but also means a clear standpoint, or to say, a firm standpoint. To create this work, more than 200 flags were cut in alphabetical order and sewed into a new flag. Under this flag, there is no need to raise any other flags representing different kinds of human rights, because as humans, these are the rights we are born with. In another work Border, flags were also cut and sewed, but only the initial sewing border was left, indicating that the nature of flags is border, which to some degree, widens the gaps among different races, languages, cultures and even genders. The Covid-19 pandemic further informed us that human destinies are bound together and the spread of the virus is not about any specific countries or classes.
