The rapid development of China’s society has spawned a series of material ruins caused by forced demolition and abandonment, behind which lies the “spiritual ruins” of people. Highly developed commercialization drags people into unavoidable emptiness and confusion, creating a crisis of value and belief. However, these facts are always covered by the fancy appearance and the pleasure brought by money. This work borrows the concept of “God said, ‘Let there be light’, and there was light” from Genesis in The Old Testament of the Bible. It aims to arouse people’s attention to this social issue of double ruins, reflecting the question of what our era can do and what we can do in this era, bringing light to the ruins and reconstructing our “spiritual ruins”.
