The artwork was created using a photographic technique called “Intentional Camera Movement,” or "I.C.M Photography," and was shot with a Phase One camera attached to a 150-megapixel IQ4 back for maximum resolution and detail.
For some context: The Sea Cliff Bridge was built to skirt the rugged coast because the cliff face became unstable due to intensive coal mining and severe flash flooding which required rebuilding the existing roadway.
I was moved by the unique juxtaposition of a smooth floating concrete roadway skirting the natural untouched coastline.
This interplay of timelines examines the building of an “impossible” roadway connecting the past, present and a likely exciting future, and the struggle between raw untouched nature versus seductive man-made technology.
