Artist’s Statement for “Bettington St, Millers Point, Sydney. No. 1 (2025).

The image was taken using a technique called Intentional Camera Movement (ICM Photography). A Phase One camera with a 150-megapixel IQ4 back captured the image for maximum resolution and detail.

Since the picture was taken in one of the streets at “The Rocks,” Sydney—historically the oldest part of the city—I wanted the final image to have a timeless look, appearing as removed from the present as possible.

The image shows the “ghost” of a building caught in a veritable "twilight zone," consumed by the “winds of change” that are both destroying and reshaping the landscape into its next manifestation.
