The Palazzolo Institute is a nursing home for disabled people that accommodates women with serious physical and mental handicaps, but also orphans and elderly nuns.
I entered without a camera, spending four months with the guests and getting to know each other.
So I tried to understand girls' desires, their dreams and obsessions and based on these elements I "imagined" some scenes that they could interpret their inner worlds in a single image.
I didn’t want the photographs to be “artistic interpretations” where I shaped not self-sufficient people according to my vision, I wanted the girls were active protagonists of the photographic experience.
The result is images full of color (in contrast with black and white of anguish and suffering), in which subjects often smile and proudly offer you memorabilia of magical worlds.
