Russian Sage is the third work in Five Corridors from the Brown Wall. After Sweet Cicely opens into atmosphere and Iris gathers into purple weight, Russian Sage spreads across the bounded table space as herb, stem, vessel, object, and light. The purple stems were surprising in the room: loose, thrown, fragrant, and closer to cooking than to floral display.
The Brown Wall remains constant, but the subject changes state. Green herbs, scattered stems, table surface, gray Seattle light, and nearby objects gather into a field that feels less like bouquet than presence.
