Crocosmia is the fourth work in Five Corridors from the Brown Wall. After atmosphere, purple weight, and green herbal scatter, Crocosmia enters the bounded table space as flame. The orange flowers burn against the brown wall and gray Seattle light, while the stems reach outward as line, signal, and pressure.
The Brown Wall remains constant, but the subject changes state. Apples from the garden, a galvanized bucket, fallen petals, a tool, table surface, and a hint of artwork in the background hold the flame inside an ordinary room. The image is not a bouquet so much as a structure of heat, reach, and attention.
