Part of the ongoing series Utopie Reattive, Voli Pindarici di una Coscienza Dormiente investigates the unpredictable trajectories of thought before they solidify into coherent narratives. The work unfolds as an open field where gestures, lines, colour, and stitched interventions emerge through a process of continuous reaction rather than predetermined composition.
Working on unprimed canvas, I allow each mark to respond to the previous one, creating a visual ecosystem in which intuition and material behaviour guide the development of the image. Ruptures and wool thread introduce a physical dimension that connects, interrupts, and redirects the painted surface, transforming drawing into a spatial act while making visible processes of repair, tension, and adaptation.
The title refers to the Italian expression voli pindarici—unexpected leaps of thought—and evokes the fluid logic of a consciousness suspended between wakefulness and dreaming. Fragments of colour, looping lines, erased passages, and handwritten traces coexist without hierarchy, suggesting a mental landscape where memory, imagination, and perception continuously overlap.
Rather than representing a specific place or event, the painting proposes a state of becoming. It reflects on how meaning emerges through uncertainty, embracing instability as a generative condition and allowing the work to remain open to multiple readings. Positioned between painting, drawing, and textile intervention, Voli Pindarici di una Coscienza Dormiente extends my ongoing investigation into material-based abstraction, where the artwork develops through an ongoing negotiation between intention, chance, and the agency of materials.
