I created this painting as a surreal reflection on memory, labor, and the strange spaces where imagination and reality overlap. The industrial setting gave me a structure to explore tension, stillness, and transformation, while the distorted forms and vivid colors allowed me to express a more psychological and dreamlike atmosphere.
In this work, I wanted to contrast heaviness with playfulness, and control with chaos. The figures and objects are deliberately unsettling, because I am interested in how familiar environments can feel both ordinary and mysterious at the same time.
My process is driven by intuition, but also by a desire to build a visual language that feels personal and layered. I use color, composition, and symbolism to create an image that invites interpretation rather than offering a single fixed meaning.
This painting represents my interest in making work that is visually striking while also carrying emotional and conceptual depth. For the Laguna Art Prize, I believe it shows my commitment to originality, experimentation, and a strong contemporary voice.
