This work began as a depiction of the semiconductor factory where I worked around 2006. As the image became increasingly technical and inorganic, I felt compelled to introduce plants into the foreground. At the time, the area in front of the newly built factory was an empty lot overgrown with weeds. Inspired by Tanaka Isson's paintings of cockscomb flowers, I chose to incorporate similar blossoms into the composition.
The background still retains traces of semiconductor wafers, their intricate circuit patterns shimmering beneath the surface, though they have gradually been overtaken by the vitality of plants and sunlight. Hidden behind the flowers are two faint figures: one worker passing through an air shower in a cleanroom suit, and another carefully handling a semiconductor wafer.
This painting reflects the quiet tension between technology and nature, suggesting that even within highly engineered environments, life ultimately reclaims its presence.
Selected for the 78th Women Artists Association Exhibition(Japan).
