In recent years, female artists have increasingly brought women's issues to the forefront. From my own experience, women are repeatedly reduced to their appearance by society, and have never truly been able to realize their own sense of value.
When my mother-in-law was hospitalized, I often picked wild flowers by the roadside to bring color to her bedside. Though she was unconscious by then, her life still felt directly connected to the flowers I brought her. The flowers withered, just as her old photos began to fade — and then she passed away.
During that time, I began working with flowers as a theme. I do not intend to criticize society's injustice towards women. To me, my mother-in-law was an independent and responsible person. My compassion simply comes from observing the female condition: women often continue to blossom even while being restrained.
"Organic Growth" expresses this natural force. Taking a top-down view of a potted flower, each flower is reflected against a different temporal and spatial background. I used a rivet to secure a chain drawn with a 3D printing pen in PLA. The black PLA material also passes through the central flower and extends to the edge of the canvas — expressing an inner self ruptured by restraint, yet also creating the illusion of beautiful patterns.
