I approached foreign residents living in Japan and created portraits with the aim of engaging with as many people as possible. By layering acrylic paint over silkscreen prints and then printing another layer, the work records traces of exchanges that transcend cultural and linguistic boundaries.

When he heard that I was creating a series of portraits, he did not hesitate to introduce me to many of his friends. He also performed Christian rap for me, and through this encounter, I felt that communication through art can transcend borders.
