This work keeps the basic shape of the traditional Uyghur flower hat in its appearance.
It has no extra decorations. Instead, the artist reused pipe scraps and wall materials from his demolished studio. These found objects record and show people’s real lives in the era of large-scale infrastructure construction.
The brushstrokes, light and colors of the work come from the artist’s memories of the Tianshan valleys in Xinjiang.
The overall color tone and brushwork create a unique rhythm. They express the artist’s worry about the environment and new thoughts on the value of mountains and rivers.
