Zhuma· Yisaierman

Artist, Professor and Supervisor of Master’s and Doctoral Candidates at the School of Fine Arts, Capital Normal University, and Doctoral degree of Art Education Theory. He serves as a Member of the Culture and Education Committee of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League, specially appointed judge by the Ministry of Education and Beijing Academy of Educational Sciences, and distinguished tutor for multiple universities.

During the 1985 New Wave Art Movement, he founded a contemporary youth national painting society and curated the influential Azure Exhibition. In the 1990s, his innovative teaching philosophies, pedagogical approaches and artistic equipment creations obtained national patents and awards from the Ministry of Education. He has contributed articles for CCTV art programmes including Art Starry Sky, Art Wide Angle and Art & Design.

In 2013, he acted as the Chief Professor in charge of the First Advanced Research Workshop on Contemporary Art Creation for Ethnic Minorities in Western China hosted by the China Artists Association. He has been a Visiting Scholar at the Faculty of Art, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Brussels.

Since 2000, his major contemporary art series include Ownership of Landscapes, Click Utopia and Plant Vessel Vision. His creative practice spans sculpting, installation, performance art and digital art in formal language and media.

His artworks have been featured in numerous domestic and international biennales, as well as special exhibitions hosted by art museums and institutions. His solo touring exhibitions have been held at art museums across China, and his works have also been exhibited in Belgium, Italy, the United States, Malaysia, Japan, Switzerland, Germany, Hungary and other countries. Many of his pieces are collected by relevant art institutions and private collectors worldwide.
