Le regard de l'autre ( the other's gaze ) - N°1
This painting is part of a duo that questions the silent dialogues and glances between human beings. It explores the way we perceive and are perceived, in this subtle interplay of glances, judgments and projections. This work poses an essential question: what place do we give to the gaze of others in the construction of our identity?
Each person has his or her own unique traits, a unique way of presenting themselves to the world: through facial expression, the way they wear their hair and make-up... With this portrait, I'm looking to go beyond physical appearance, to capture forms that don't belong to the face itself, but that convey an emotion, an inner vibration, a deep authenticity. The kind that everyone possesses, but that many hide.
This painting depicts surreal beings, free from any fear of judgment. It has the power to see and show itself as it wishes to be, without compromise. The organic, angular lines that run through it symbolize this abandonment of norms, this affirmation of self. They embody a letting go, an inner reclaiming, that of the soul that blossoms, freed from the masks imposed by the social gaze.
