A sculpted cat's face peers out from a dense field of silk cherry blossoms,
caught between concealment and recognition. The tension between the solid, watchful
animal and the soft, overwhelming bloom evokes comfort and childhood memory
pressing in from all sides. My Chinese name is Cherry, hence the Cherry Blossoms, and
the cat model I used is my childhood cat Nica, symbolising pieces of what makes me,
“me,” as well as the sweet purity of childhood and innocence.
