A la Fimminisca takes its source from Alberto Favara's Corpus of Sicilian Folk Music, a melody later reworked by Alfredo Casella and by Luciano Berio in his Folk Songs. Following the artist's method, the song is analysed in its line, intervals and rhythm, then translated through a colour code into a field of saturated hues and clear geometry, where each shape answers a sound. Conceived for the voice, the work was performed with soprano Maria Elisabetta Trupiano, the painting becoming a notation to be sung. Like the rest of the project, it is not a fixed image but a living score, read and returned to sound in performance.
