I keep circling around the same image, like someone returning
to a dream that never fully reveals itself. This image is a body
that stretches, bends, offers itself and resists, trying to fit
within the canvas. It inhabits the surface through a contained
gesture—quick and impulsive—always on the verge of spilling
over.
I seek to capture that moment when something is released: a
version of myself that is comic, absurd, and vulnerable. I
watch myself deform with a certain grace, as if the gesture
could reveal a truth I am not yet able to hold. Contortion
becomes both desire and resistance, play and exhaustion—an
insistence on staying alive, on existing within my own pictorial
effort.
