I continue orbiting the same bodily image, like someone returning to a dream
that never fully reveals itself. This body stretches, bends, offers itself, and
retracts, attempting either to escape or fit within the canvas. It inhabits the
surface through a contained, rapid, and impulsive gesture, always on the
verge of overflowing.
I seek to capture that instant in which something is released: a version of
myself that is comic, absurd, and vulnerable. I observe myself deforming with
a certain grace, as though the gesture could reveal a truth I am still unable
to sustain. Contortion here becomes desire and performance, play and
exhaustion; an insistence on remaining alive, on existing within my own effort
upon the canvas.
