Center of the Circle – Vortex Variation
This variation of Center of the Circle draws inspiration from the symbolism of the vortex—representing the convergence and transformation of opposing energies: yin and yang.
The painting features a solid, hand-painted circular form created exclusively with black, white, and yellow oil paint, emphasizing the duality and interdependence within all aspects of existence. Rather than referencing balance or stillness, the circle acts as a metaphysical body, capturing the moment when energy condenses into form through metamorphic force.
The outer rim of the central sphere is softly infused with yellow pigment, visualizing the subtle vibration of physical presence—the threshold where material reality flickers against invisible dimensions. This luminous edge functions as a symbolic membrane through which the unseen begins to manifest.
At the heart of the circle, a charcoal-drawn ring on paper is embedded into the canvas and layered with natural sand, grounding the work in earthly texture and organic substance. The tactile contrast—between the smoothness of oil, the fibers of paper, and the granularity of sand—evokes how energy ripples, resonates, and crystallizes into physical matter over time.
This piece captures a quiet metamorphosis—the emergence of life, thought, and form from the tension of opposing forces. It becomes more than a visual object: a philosophical meditation on the unseen processes that generate being.
