Bay of Lagoon Blue portrays a solitary woman at the edge of the sea, suspended in a moment of stillness and inward focus. Wearing a vivid pink swimming cap and dark goggles, she appears both protected and exposed, her profile sharply defined against the shifting blue surface of the water.
The painting reflects my ongoing fascination with women, water and the emotional power of colour. I am interested in the moment before movement—before entering the water, beginning a journey or making a decision. The figure’s calm, determined expression suggests concentration and self-possession, while the sea becomes a metaphor for freedom, uncertainty and renewal.
Through fragmented planes of light and shadow, I combine the graphic strength of Pop Art with the atmosphere and luminosity associated with Impressionism. Turquoise, coral, pink and deep blue transform the natural scene into an emotional landscape. For me, Bay of Lagoon Blue is a portrait of quiet courage: a woman facing the horizon alone, yet entirely confident in her own direction.
