This painting plays with the idea of abstraction. At first glance it appears abstract, yet a face slowly emerges from the surface. The invented signs cover the canvas like the traces of an unknown civilization. I am not interested in creating a code to be deciphered. I prefer to leave space for the viewer's imagination. Each person is free to invent a different story, and perhaps even a different language.
