ENCOUNTER IN THE INFINITY / ENCUENTRO ESPACIAL Digital painting using Apple Pen on Ipad, printed on Canvas, 2021
From the series "El Infinito Intangible" (The Intangible Infinity)
Artist Statement:
Encounter in the Infinity captures the moment when separate spheres of consciousness recognize each other across the vastness of cosmic space—three luminous beings meeting in the eternal void, each trailing stardust like memory, each radiating unique frequencies of light. Created during deep meditative states using Apple Pencil on iPad, this work explores the profound mystery of how awareness finds itself reflected in other awareness, how isolation transforms into communion through the simple act of mutual recognition.
The composition presents four distinct spherical forms floating against deep midnight blue infinity, each representing a different state or quality of consciousness. The upper left sphere bursts with vibrant energy—brilliant white core surrounded by magenta, yellow, and coral clouds, trailing countless luminous particles like a comet of awakening. This is consciousness in its most dynamic, creative state—expansive, expressive, overflowing with generative force.
The middle right sphere appears more contemplative—layers of iridescent blue, turquoise, and violet swirl in gentle rotation around a luminous center, its curved bands suggesting deep introspection and refined awareness. This represents consciousness in meditative stillness, observing itself with crystalline clarity.
The lower sphere glows with mysterious depth—electric blue and magenta energies dance at its edges while the core pulses with concentrated light. This is consciousness in its transformative aspect, where opposites unite and new understanding emerges from the friction of paradox.
Each sphere trails a wake of brilliant particles—the traces of their journeys through infinite space, the karma of countless past moments that brought them to this precise intersection. These sparkling dust clouds suggest that consciousness leaves luminous tracks wherever it travels, that every moment of awareness contributes to the evolving pattern of cosmic intelligence.
The vertical composition emphasizes the progressive stages of spiritual encounter: initial radiant explosion of recognition (upper sphere), contemplative mutual observation (middle sphere), and finally deep transformative union as separate awarenesses begin to merge their energies (lower sphere). Yet all three remain distinct—this is not absorption into oneness but rather the celebration of multiplicity within unity, the recognition that infinite consciousness can simultaneously be one and many.
The deep blue cosmic background is not empty void but rather pregnant space—the infinite field of potential from which all these luminous beings emerged and to which they will eventually return. Subtle variations in the darkness suggest other encounters happening beyond our view, other spheres of light meeting across unimaginable distances, the universe endlessly discovering itself through countless moments of recognition.
This work bridges Buddhist philosophy with contemporary understanding of consciousness and quantum entanglement. In meditation practice, we discover that what seemed like isolated individual awareness is actually part of an infinite network of interconnected consciousness. The painting visualizes this realization: we are not solitary sparks of light lost in darkness, but rather luminous nodes in an endless web of mutual awakening, each encounter adding new patterns to the universal mandala.
Through 37 years of artistic evolution culminating in sophisticated digital painting techniques, Encounter in the Infinity demonstrates how contemporary technology can express timeless truths about the nature of relationship, recognition, and the fundamental interconnectedness of all conscious beings.

Conceptual Foundation:
The painting draws inspiration from Buddhist concepts of interdependent origination (pratītyasamutpāda)—the understanding that no consciousness exists in isolation, but rather each arises in relationship to all others. It also references the quantum physics principle of entanglement, where particles once connected remain mysteriously linked across any distance. The three spheres represent how individual awareness, while appearing separate, is fundamentally interconnected through the infinite field of consciousness. Each encounter between aware beings creates new possibilities, new patterns of light, new understandings that ripple throughout the entire cosmic network. We are, as the painting suggests, seeds of consciousness floating in vastness—yet never truly alone, always participating in the eternal dance of mutual recognition and awakening.
