COSMIC EGG Digital painting using Apple Pen on Ipad, printed on Canvas, 2024-2025
From the series "Light Vessels"
Artist Statement:
Cosmic Egg floats in primordial darkness as a luminous vessel of infinite potential—the sacred moment before all creation when existence holds its breath between void and manifestation. Created during deep meditative states using Apple Pencil on iPad, this award-winning work captures the ancient concept of the World Egg, the Golden Womb (Hiranyagarbha), the primordial source from which all universes emerge.
The composition centers on a spherical form glowing with layers of rose, coral, salmon, and crimson light. Within the translucent membrane, countless luminous particles swirl in proto-patterns—consciousness beginning to organize itself into the structures that will become reality. The egg appears simultaneously solid and permeable, contained yet infinite, like a cosmic womb holding all possible futures within its delicate shell. Soft bokeh circles float in the surrounding darkness like distant stars or other cosmic eggs waiting to hatch across infinite space.
This work explores the threshold between emptiness and form—that pregnant pause where pure potential has not yet crystallized into specific manifestation. In Hindu cosmology, the universe emerges from the Golden Womb. In Chinese mythology, Pan Gu breaks free from the cosmic egg. In Buddhist philosophy, all phenomena arise from śūnyatā—the luminous void that is simultaneously empty and full of infinite possibility. The Cosmic Egg visualizes this liminal space where everything exists as probability before collapsing into actuality.
The warm palette—ranging from deep crimson at the base through coral and rose to pale golden light at the crown—suggests life force gathering intensity, consciousness preparing to break through into manifestation. The egg seems to pulse with gentle breathing, as if something miraculous is about to hatch. This is the sacred instant just before the Big Bang, the moment of conception, the pause before enlightenment—when all potentials remain simultaneously alive within unified awareness.
Countless tiny particles visible within the egg represent the fundamental building blocks of reality waiting to arrange themselves into galaxies, thoughts, dreams, and awakening. Each particle holds complete information about the whole, just as each cell contains the entire genetic code. This is the holographic nature of consciousness made visible: the part containing the whole, infinity compressed into a single luminous sphere.
The vertical format emphasizes the cosmic axis—the connection between primordial source above and manifest reality below. Yet the egg floats freely in space, suggesting that this creative moment happens everywhere simultaneously, that the universe is continuously birthing itself anew in every instant of awareness. Through 37 years of artistic evolution, Cosmic Egg demonstrates how digital painting can express the most ancient spiritual truths about the origins of consciousness and cosmos.

Conceptual Foundation:
The Cosmic Egg appears in creation myths worldwide as the primordial container from which all existence emerges. In Vedic tradition, Hiranyagarbha (Golden Womb) floats in cosmic waters before manifesting as Brahma, the creator. In Greek cosmogony, the Orphic Egg births Phanes, the primordial deity of light. This painting bridges ancient mythology with contemporary understanding of quantum superposition—the state where all possibilities exist simultaneously before observation collapses them into single reality. The Cosmic Egg is both cosmological metaphor and experiential truth: each moment of pure awareness before thought arises contains infinite creative potential, waiting to hatch into manifest form.
