Artist Statement:

Blue Light in the Ocean captures the miraculous phenomenon of bioluminescence—nature's own light show where microscopic phytoplankton transform ocean waves into cascades of ethereal blue light. Created during meditative states using Apple Pencil on iPad, this work explores the profound parallel between this natural luminescence and the "clear light" of consciousness revealed through contemplative practice.

The composition flows vertically in waves of crystalline turquoise and deep midnight blue, punctuated by countless brilliant particles of light that dance like living stardust. Translucent veils of color overlap and interweave, creating depths that suggest we are looking simultaneously at ocean surface and inner space. Each luminous particle represents a moment of awakening—when outer phenomenon mirrors inner realization.

This painting explores a fundamental truth: just as phytoplankton emit light when disturbed by waves, our own consciousness reveals its luminous nature when touched by the waves of meditation and deep awareness.
