Letter to Venice – Venice No Longer Sheds TearsI began working on a painting themed around the palace, also titled The Restless Golden Canary. I thought of Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel — a woman who not only refused to spend a man's money, but helped him earn it. I wanted to portray her with a modern spirit, so Sophie Marceau came to mind — a woman who is perfectly content even on her own. I bought dozens of books to study court life. A few days ago, I recalled the film Dangerous Beauty. After rewatching it yesterday, I decided to paint a golden canary who risks everything for love. The design of this love letter is simple: I stripped away all the ornate palace trappings. Where there is love, there is home. Only after putting brush to canvas did I learn how tragic the true story was. So today, I revised the concept:Even if I lose, I am still okay.life is still good .As long as I am happy, I will gladly return to the gambling table next time. I can afford to lose.
