with a career spanning over five decades, marionanni has built an international reputation as a visionary artist who celebrates light as the true source of life. he has used his expertise in lighting and artisanal craftsmanship to envision, experiment, and create, developing a distinctive school and poetry of thought.

defining himself as a scrittoredellaluce (writer of light), his work embraces visual arts, set design, poetry and literature, fashion, and jewelry craftsmanship. his talents have been recognized with prestigious appointments – artistic director of the marino marini museum in florence and the modernissimo cinema in bologna. he conceived and brought light to historical sites and monuments such as michelangelo’s moses (church of san pietro in vincoli, rome), the torlonia marble collection (capitoline museums, rome), casa batllò in barcelona, and the medici tombs in florence. his work has been showcased in major exhibitions, including the 2012 venice biennale with a pavilion at the corderie dell’ arsenale, 2009 venice biennale (la parete narrante, ca’ giustinian), triennale di milano, villa panza in varese, and the quirinale palace in rome. marionanni has collaborated with renowned architects like david chipperfield, marco costanzi, kengo kuma, john pawson, and peter zumthor, and he has developed projects for prestigious institutions, including the royal academy of arts in london, the serpentine galleries, and the kunsthaus zürich.
