Inspired by Azzedine Alaïa's use of snakeskin — a material that moves between nature and construction, between skin and armour — this image explores the boundary between the figure and the world it inhabits. The blue-to-warm gradient creates an atmosphere of suspension, neither interior nor exterior. A veil of organza, present but barely visible, introduces the physical into the digital. This work is currently being extended into a mixed media painting, where the digital image becomes the foundation for a physical object.
On The Beach is part of Primary Colours, a series exploring the intersection of photography, digital intervention and physical image-making.
