"It’s Fantastic" is a Video Art piece that presents an Audio-Experience Book—a book without paper—at the core of the Artist's Books and Notebooks projects I've been developing throughout my Art-Life experiences.
In this work, I invite my audience to let themselves be moved by the stories of women who have faced harassment, violence, or have been silenced over the 20th and 21st centuries in Brazil, including the violent 23-year period of the Military Dictatorship from 1964 to 1987.
The research and initial drafts for this Audio-Experience Book began in 2022, during creative process workshops led by Anna Costa e Silva at the Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This project is both a tribute and a political commitment to femininity, coinciding with the 49th anniversary of the Brazilian TV show, "Fantástico, The Show of Life". "Fantástico" is a variety show aired on Sunday nights, with the aim of presenting a review of the week's main news from a neoliberal, center-right perspective. Currently, the show is celebrating 51 years and has remained a top-rated program since its debut, reaching millions of Brazilian households.
The translations and vocal versions were generated by AI. The idea is that the tools already being used worldwide for domination and the creation of fake news should also be employed in the creation of art to affirm vulnerable and marginalized groups.
Finally, this work is part of a series that explores violence against women under the central theme: Woman-Body.
