Sonic Waves: Painting Echolocation

Immersed in dark blue light, like the deep ocean world, I performed an action painting that responds to the music composition, with graphical lines resembling the wavelet graph of a humpback whale's song, inspired by George Crumb's Vox Balaenae. The performance unfolds as my painting begins on the floor, pushing paint with my arms, my body transformed into a screen print squeegee. The pattern then travels onto the musicians' clothes, transforming their outfits into a living music score of echolocation.

Here, the continuous lines connect four individual performers into a single song from the humpback whale—a communication in sonic waves, echoing through our ecosystem. The action painting create stunning stage for live classical music.
