Often, when I work long hours or successfully complete something, I hear: Nico, go to your stars.
My determination equals that of Babylonian stargazers. They stood entire nights on temple rooftops counting stars, because even the heavens have their order. Time is not chaos, and the movement of stars corresponds to the movement of human life.
For as long as the world has existed, not every voice has been accepted. Galileo and van Gogh spoke in a tone that could not be heard.
In recent days, my voice too has been tried to be silenced. That’s why I put it into 21 cm of impasto – this is my manifesto of majesty and unbreakable boundaries. Not everyone can be from life.
And so I hear that I am too much.
No. I am not too much. There are only people who could not bear me.
I am not too much and never have been. I am the one who continues after those who survived through silence. And I want to be the beginning of those who will no longer have to stay silent.
Today’s world is full of people who shrink themselves to provide comfort to others. But it needs to see those who remain whole too – even when their life shakes at its foundations, even when it hurts, even when it frightens others so much that they question their strength.
I want everyone to have a voice.
Even the one who couldn’t love whom they wanted.
Even the one who couldn’t decide about their own body.
Even the one who couldn’t say out loud what they feel.
