A white female bust lies motionless on a surface equally white. From its skirt emerge 294 small dolls, multiple presences that evoke births, memories, souls or returns. The work explores the relationship between two apparent opposites: death and birth, understood not as antagonistic events, but as stages of a single process of transformation.
The installation is completed with a sound piece composed of voices of women of different nationalities who repeat the phrase: “You have reached your destination. Take the highway.” Drawn from the everyday and banal language of navigation systems, this instruction acquires here a symbolic dimension. Destination ceases to be a physical place to become a stage in the journey of consciousness, while the highway becomes a metaphor for a higher spiritual path that traverses both life and death.
More than a reflection on reincarnation, Morte e Rinascita addresses the ideas of transit, threshold, return, and continuity of consciousness. The emerging figures and the female voices form a choral narrative that suggests the permanence of life beyond its changing states, inviting contemplation of birth and death contemporaneously as complementary expressions of a single reality in constant transformation.
