Letter Process was developed between 1998 and 2000 through the mailing of 3,000 typed letters to galleries across the United States using a manual typewriter.
Within each letter was a simple request for financial support. The project was not intended as provocation alone, but as an observation of the moment before response — the brief inner space in which thought, hesitation, generosity, avoidance, or compassion begin to take form.
Over time, the repetitive act of typing, folding, sealing, and waiting became less about communication with the art world and more about perceiving the movement of the mind itself.
