Sealed-vault installation; unique physical conceptual work; viewable only in person. The protected image inside has no official photograph, file, scan, dataset, or authorized surrogate. Public images show only the sealed vault. To encounter the image, a visitor follows a no-recording viewing protocol and leaves with nothing but memory.
As AI becomes a lens through which the world is seen, I, Uncaptured preserves one image that refuses binary capture. The work permits discourse, criticism, and memory, but forbids reproduction of the protected image, including a descriptive surrogate detailed enough to reconstruct it. The vault is not packaging. It is the visible boundary that makes the refusal operational.
Artist statement: Almost everything visual now becomes data. A face becomes a template. An afternoon becomes a post, a screenshot, then training material. I wanted to make one image whose value depends on presence rather than circulation. The work asks what remains of an image when it cannot be copied, indexed, optimized, or used to train a machine.
