I was inspired by the sight of drift ice gathered along the northern coast.
The broken ice collides with the shore, pushed forward and pulled back by the waves. Through this continuous movement, layers accumulate and transform, creating irregular yet beautiful formations.
This work translates that natural process into leather.
The translucent layers, representing ice, are made from pig skin shaped for this piece. Each fragment is layered to recreate the accumulation and movement of drift ice.
The upper part, where the foot is inserted, is made from leftover outsole leather generated during the shoemaking process. It is shaped using techniques traditionally used in heel construction, preserving the refined structure of a shoe.
A form created through human body precision meets a structure shaped by natural forces.
By bringing together order and irregularity, human intention and natural movement, this work explores how different elements can coexist and reveal a new form of beauty.
