Yukie Kon is a Japanese bespoke shoemaker based in Tokyo. She grew up in a family that enjoyed making things and appreciating the changing seasons. From an early age, she spent time creating beside her grandmother, a kimono maker, developing an interest in materials, form, and craftsmanship.
After exploring various forms of making, Yukie began studying shoemaking in 2008. Since 2011, she has worked with MISAWA SHOE DESIGN under bespoke shoemaker and artist Noriyuki Misawa, where she has continued to deepen her understanding of shoe structures shaped for the human body.
Alongside her shoemaking practice, Yukie creates works inspired by natural phenomena encountered in everyday life. Observations of plants, insects, and other forms found in nature often become starting points for her work. By preserving the structure of footwear, she seeks to share the beauty she finds in forms created for and shaped around the human body.
