Drawing Machine Framework I, is a kinetic sculpture that functions as a collaborative drawing partner. It is designed to challenge the perception of machines as opaque, black-box operators, instead proposing a transparent system where technology becomes an extension of the artist's own creative process.
The framework operates through a series of wireless reactive systems and real-time feedback loops. This allows me to directly engage with the machine's movements, reacting and responding to its marks to 'sculpt' the final drawing as it emerges. This process augments the reach of my hand, creating a dialogue where the final outcome is a product of shared authorship. It is a method of working that embraces the unpredictable and celebrates the unique visual language born from a human-machine partnership.
Exhibited at the Mall Galleries (Fables),and Saatchi Gallery (ArtEvol 2025). It has also been selected for the forthcoming KINETIC exhibition at MAKE Southwest (January 2026), where it will be presented as a dynamic sculpture and its themes of motion and responsive systems will be explored further.
