Congé is about contemplation, drifting apart and separating, longing and conciliation, reuniting in quiet tranquility again. It questions parting and approaching, based on an insplittable entity, held together by an invisible force, and the inability to become one again, as the knot between the two grows too tight. On motionless and tightness of the space of parting ways, and the awareness that parting at the same moment means returning back to one self. Congé is a moment that seems to last forever, and turns into a condition, where distancing turns into coming closer and coming closer causes a distance. We live in the space in-between, and breathe through time until the moment when the world moves on, taking us along. This is the process of many individual intimacies of today.The work spans 135cm in length, as two pieces of blown glass, joined together with an auxiliary piece and string. It was originally exhibited on a base with surface area of 1.5 x 7.8m to enhance the sense of solitude; although the base can be much smaller.Departures presents a moment in my life. (smiles). A moment that seems to last forever, and turns into a condition. A condition where distancing turns into coming closer and coming closer causes a distance.
