Glass Sutures
From the series Nothing Remains Unchanged, Yet Nothing Completely Disappears
Where repair becomes part of the form.
A translucent cloud bears the traces of repair. Joined through delicate glass sutures, its fractures are neither concealed nor erased. Instead, they become an integral part of the sculpture, revealing that every attempt to mend also transforms.
The work is built upon a paradox: glass, a material associated with fragility, is "stitched" using glass itself. The gesture is both impossible and symbolic. Rather than restoring an original perfection, the sutures acknowledge rupture as part of the object's history.
Clouds are one of my recurring motifs because they embody continuity through change. Here, repair does not undo the fracture; it gives it a new presence. The visible seams speak of memory, resilience and the quiet beauty of what continues despite its vulnerability.
Made from reclaimed glass, cut, pigmented and kiln-formed, the sculpture preserves the traces of its making. The sutures do not hide the wound—they allow it to remain visible, becoming part of the work's identity.
