"Burnout" is a sculptural installation that transforms the mundane object of a matchstick into a metaphor of exhaustion. The artwork explores the physical and mental degradation caused by overwork and by the constant social pressure to perform, in our contemporary restless lifestyle. The collection of sculpted matchsticks have human expressive faces. Their blackened forms, thinned by the fire, evoke the posture of figures burdened by societal expectations. Beyond physical decay, the piece illustrates emotional exhaustion. The inner void is suggested through the empty eye sockets of the figures.
