Myths and symbols are mirrors that show us images of
peoples’ history, beliefs and culture from past to the present; stories that
show the origin of the universe and human beings’ connection to the universe.
The attempt to find the truth of life has been a common feature of human beings
throughout the history and this feature is reflected in the creation of myths
and symbols.
We all need help in order to understand birth, life and
death, and what life is all about.
Our mind’s curiosity to find the answers is a common
denominator between myth and science.
In ancient times, human beings were creating symbols and
myths according to their observations.
By creating these symbols, they would connect themselves to
the beginning of the world’s creation and would go beyond the time and place
they were.
Myths and symbols are created by the creative mind of man
and are the answer to human questions.
so, the storytelling of a creative mind can never be
stopped.
Man's experiences also originate from his mind, his view and
thought of the universe.
For thousands of years, human beings have been searching for
the answer and also explanation to the questions about the world’s perfect
beginning and ending, and essence and actuality of all events, and all these
efforts can be seen in myth in various forms.
Considering the fact that the source of myth, science and
art is the creative mind of man, it should be noted that all creations, and
mental questions and answers are formed in the mind of the individual after
observing the nature and the world around, and each has an external and also an
internal source
In fact, everything in the universe has been created once
and then it’s reproduced in human mind, and all these productions and
re-creations have had a reason at all times.
The reason could be man's response to the questions which
were incomprehensible and in this way, man has created something that expresses
the unspoken.
Our project is about one of the oldest myths in Iran and one
of the astronomical phenomena.
Thousands of years ago, in a region of Iran, a very large
black rock hit the ground from the sky and at the same time, lightning and rain
appeared in the sky.
This stone was sacred and heavenly to the people. Because it
had come down from sky. People worshiped it. It was considered a gift from the
gods, especially the god of water, Anahita.
At a time when the area was experiencing drought, people
raised the black stone above the ground in the Anahita Temple.
(Fire temple)
And they began to pray for the rain god (Anahita) to bring
rain from the sky to the dry lands of their region.
This ritual was performed hundreds of years ago and shows
the connection between man and the events of the universe.
The square surface is covered with dry sand.
The black rock is suspended in the air by magnetic flotation.
Next to this collection,
a part of the gallery ground is covered with sand and a hundred stones are
placed on the sand.
I want the audience to
spend time in the gallery with this work. I want the mind and imagination of
the audience to contribute to the completion and development of the collection.
The impact of the visitor
as a driving force on the effect is undeniable.
A space is provided for
the viewer to experience a unique opportunity.
Due to this issue, a text
with the following sentences is placed next to this installation:
Here are a hundred stones
on the sand.
You can move them or take
them for yourself, you can put them
together like a statue or a work of art, you are free to make any form with these stones. You can
place each of these stones in different places in the gallery. Do you want to do this?
