The piece investigates fragmentation of self and the ways identity is both contained and dispersed.
The “sea above” title implies that the mind (sea/cloud) is above and perhaps overwhelming; the face held below suggests both reverence and dislocation — identity is protected yet separate.
There’s also a tension between vulnerability (nudity, exposed torso) and agency (holding one’s own face).
The Process:
A ritual of assembly and dissolution. I combine hand-painted fragments with magazine cutouts in a temporary physical collage. Once scanned and digitally processed, the work is dismantled.
1/1 Edition (plus one for the artist).
Fine art print on paper (Hahnemüle Photorag 308 gr) mounted on aluminium dibond.
