Ask Alice

Inspired by a vintage edition of Alice in Wonderland, Ask Alice explores the "rabbit hole" as a profound journey of female transformation.

Driven by a deep sense of impermanence, Monica Sarobba examines how women live multiple lives—constantly descending into chaos to realign their Selves across complex societal roles.

The composition captures the exact moment of falling through crisis toward a reinvented identity. It materializes the tension between a rigid exterior and a fluid self, especially in a society that pressures women to perform a polished, artificial image.

Staged Scanography: a cycle of creation and rebirth. Hand-painted fragments and colored magazine cutouts form a temporary physical composition. After being scanned and digitally enhanced, the original assemblage is dissolved. The physical pieces are preserved for future artworks, leaving the final print as the sole physical testament of the piece.
