Text written on my skin as a solar tattoo: prefabricated model (this is the name given to the buildings typical of socialist architecture in Cuba).
The text printed on my body is accompanied by lattice shapes (typical ornaments developed to accompany these buildings as windows)
Socialist prefabricated architecture was developed for the political purpose of creating equal living conditions and social rights for the citizens who lived in this system.
“micro
D vitamin” is a project that discusses the migration of Cubans abroad.
The new status we acquire for our government after leaving the country.
For the socialist government of Cuba, individuals who leave our homeland
have historically been renegades, as sellers of our homeland. However,
in recent years the deep economic crisis affecting the country has made
the government put individuals like me in a new category of interest
since family remittances are one of Cuba’s main economic sources and our
visits inject a lot of hard currency into the country.
We as
individuals born in socialism were formed under the precept of equality
for all, politically it is part of the propaganda of the system, but the
reality is that in Cuba long ago the social classes have begun to
divide and Cubans who emigrated, we entered a new category of
economically wealthy and began to have access to the privileges that
never living inside the island we could reach. Going to a hotel,
visiting the beauties of Cuba was unthinkable for me before I emigrated
because of its enormous cost for my economy as a local, today I return
as a tourist to my own land and I can enjoy its wonders.
