Title of the work: F%@K the Comfort Zone
Artist: Natercia Caneira
Type of work: Performative - Wearable Sculpture
Type of presentation: Stationary Performance
Concept: A look at how an artist's creative process works. The evolution towards a
meditative state of creation and the reactions of discomfort linked to processes of being
vulnerable in front of the public.
Action:
- The artist, dressed in an abstract sculpture - a chaotic, semi-rigid and organic form,
translucent and visceral - is seated in the center of a large circular white canvas.
-She gets up slowly and then opens the little faucets that fall from micro tubes built inside her
wearable sculpture.
- The liquid ink begins to flow through very thin needles, emerging
a drawing of very fine veins on the white canvas.
- Pink, Red and Orange
- The artist starts her slow movement
- Walking in a circle on the white canvas, layers of thin lines, footprints and drops that have
taken over begin to emerge
- The artist stops after a few minutes, closes the taps and sits down again in the center of
the round canvas
- After a few minutes the artist gets up again and the cycle repeats
