Considered by many to be my most intuitive and intimate works, these performative-sculptures are like drawings made in the air that slowly change into sculptures. They are a set of happenings performed in public, in which a white thread is pulled across the room. Repeatedly, slowly, methodically. They bring to the public arena the delicate and intimate creative process applied in the construction of these light, non-solid objects. Inevitably, what happens inside me, the slow and focused movements of my body as a work tool, ends up being the cornerstone for the emergence of a new form. A deeply private act that becomes public.
20 Pounds of Lightness starts from an empty room and a coil of silk thread, Natercia goes around the space, unrolling, stretching, suspending and positioning the almost transparent lines. Over 5 hours of a paced, repetitive and meticulous combination of gestures, the object, influenced by the location, takes the form of this entire process.
