The ‘Timeless Muse’ reimagines the ancient feminine archetype through a artistic language that is both archaic and contemporary. Unlike traditional smooth-surfaced figuration, i tried to employ a highly intentional planar technique, rendering facets of light against shadow that together create the figure’s volume. Echoing the elegance of classical Indian sculpture while embracing a contemporary visual language, this painting of a broken statue is inspired equally by feelings of rediscovery as well as renaissance.
