Dying and ascending to a better place is a part of most religions. However this is an unknown and unknowns are frightening, Is it nothing? Is it a glorious being? Is it nature in another form? Most people I know believe in an an afterlife that is a "better place" yet all of those people are as terrified of dying as everyone else. There seems to be a disconnect in their faith and reality.
