The afterlife is taught to be glorious with no pain, fear or longing. If I were to pass before my wife, the only way for that to be possible is to forget her. I couldn't possibly be separated from her by death and not mourn our separation. So, I struggle with the idea of an afterlife with no sorrow or longing. I want to remember her for that eternity. If pain and sorrow are the price for that, I am more than willing to pay the price. I want to feel the lack.
